Writes fantasy novels. His Drizzt book are probably his best books. In Drizzt he has created a very three dimensional character, that makes very interesting reading. His first published novel was The Crystal Shard.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from Fitchburg State College in 1981, then returned for the degree he always cherished, the Bachelor of Arts in English. He began writing seriously in 1982, penning the manuscript that would become Echoes of the Fourth Magic (ROC Books). His first published novel was The Crystal Shard. He has since published more than a dozen novels, including the New York Times bestsellers The Halfling's Gem, Sojourn, The Legacy and Starless Night.
