Description: Reapirman Jack is hired to find a missing woman, and in doing so he steps through the looking glass into a Carrollesque world of the first annual conference of the Society for the Exposure of Secret Organizations and Unacknowledged Phenomena in Manhattan, where every move is watched, every utterance is parsed, and everyone is a suspect. At first Jack finds it all amusing, but haunting nightmares, ritual murder, a disappearing corpse, and an attack by a creature that might be found in the Book of Revelations, but certainly not in any zoology text, convince him that something strange and deadly, and perhaps even apocalyptic, is in the works.
