Jules Verne was born Febuary 8, 1828, in Nantes, France. As a child he was fascinated by the ocean. When he was 8 years old he found a little boy crying. The boy said that he had to be a cabin boy on a ship but had to leave his family, so Verne wanted to take his place but his father caught him. While he was young, he wanted to write good stories and plays, but his father wanted him to study law. Verne would research for and write his stories in the morning, and during the day he would work. However, his father found out about this and decided to stop sending him money, so Verne had to depend on his stories for income. He wrote many stories, poems, and plays and is considered the Father of Science Fiction, as he wrote the first science fiction books ever. He moved to Amiens, France later in life and died there in 1905. His popular books will always be remembered. This author has been recommended by 41 other readers. | |
