Description: Completed by Jane Linskold after Roger's untimely death, it may be his finest work. Personally, it became my favorite the instant I read it for the first time. Dealing with an evolved version of virtual reality, Zelazny sheds light on a future wherein there are two actual worlds, verite (earth) and virtu (v.r) The events take place after there was a 'crash' in the virtual world, and center around a man named Donnerjack, who had been one of the programmers instrumental in the creation and subsequent evolution of virtu. He battles Death itself in order to first bring his wife to him, and then to protect his infant son. It simply must be read, for any comments are in all likelyhood merely superlative.
