| Sean McMullen, winner of ten awards for his science fiction and fantasy, spent five years in medieval re-enactment groups, during which he fought in armoured fencing tournaments and won four in the sword-and-shield category. Currently he is studying for a PhD in medieval fantasy literature at Melbourne University. He is also a third dan black belt instructor at the Melbourne University Karate Club.
