Description: This trilogy is extremely difficult to find. It is a straight historical series, with no fantasy content. Anderson is a great SF writer, too. His attention to historical detail comes through in his fantasy offerings (try The High Crusade - it's SF, but one I think even the most adamant fantasy fan would like). The major influence on his fantasy is Nordic myth and legend.
