Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis

Description: A story mirroring the mythological tale of Cupid and Psyche as retold by Lewis in order to reflect the Christian theology he came to embrace. Orual, of homely face and considerably uglier character, is the narrarator, relating to us the story of her pious and lovely sister Psyche, who is sacrificed to the Mountain God by her people in order to bring about an end to the horrible conditions of her life. Through the journey of her life, Orual learns to see the purity inside people, and eventually recognizes the transient nature of her body and face, which she despises so greatly. An endearing, if quirky, novel that Lewis aficionados may enjoy greatly
