Princess Anja of Sessalie has vanished on the eve of her wedding to the Prince of Devall and the Royal Court fears abduction. Though the match was a political one, Anja loved her betrothed deeply. The Captain of the Garrison, Mykkael, a hardened southern warrior and ex-mercenary, is tasked with finding her.
Mykkael’s investigation is plagued by obstruction and questions about his witch-vision. He suspects that Anja uncovered something so terrible that she was forced to flee for her life. The evidence points to a sorcerer’s plot that threatens all of Sessalie – and if Sessalie falls, it will pave the way for a massive invasion of the West.
