Description: A novel set on the 1940s Venus, several centuries after a nuclear war has destroyed Earth. (There is a
short story, `Clash By Night' set in the same backdrop, published in the 1940s in Astounding, written by
Kuttner under the pen name `Lawrence O'Donnel') . Humans are living living in undersea Keeps, the land
being too overrun with vicious flora and fauna to be habitable when humans fled to Venus from the wreck
of Earth.: there is a small group of mutant near-immortals
in control of most of the wealth and power. The story features a rogue immortal and the manoeuverings to force
humanity out of the Keeps and onto the newly terraformed surface,
