Dark of the Gods by P.C. Hodgell

Description: An omnibus edition which includes God Stalk, Dark of the Moon, and the short story 'Bones,' which originally appeared in Elsewhere Vol. III. With the possible exception of Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stories, Hodgell's work blows away everything in the Imaginary World genre. Like Leiber, Hodgell isn't afraid to inject some humor into her writing -- most of the slavish Tolkien imitators out there seem to think an occasional chuckle would shatter their little elf-infested worlds (and maybe it would). The humor keeps the Serious Issues being addressed here from sounding preachy, and serious they are: prejudice, free will, religion, and gender are all questioned by Hodgell and her protagonist, Jame of the Kencyrath. But don't let that scare you -- these books are great fun and not to be missed.
