A Night in Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny

Description: A wacky novel, with illustrations by Gahan Wilson. The narrator is a dog named Snuff, whose master is...Jack the Ripper. It has Lovecraftian themes running subtly throughout, with October 31st being the culmination of a sort of Game. There are two types of 'players' in the Game, those who wish to open the Gate to the Elder Ones, and those who strive against them, to attempt closure of the Gate. It reads sometimes as a sort of spoof, with The Count (Dracula) Jack (the Ripper) The Good Doctor (Frankenstein) The Great Detective (Holmes) and the Wolfman, to name a few. A just plain silly romp, and enjoyable for it.
