Description: One thing that has always impressed me is world-building: creating a setting that is large enough to encompass multiple stories, is filled with imaginative innovations, and yet solid enough that readers can still connect with the characters. Lebbon has done this and then some with Noreela, the world many of his novels take place, including Dusk, Dawn, the forthcoming The Island, and FALLEN. While a stand-alone novel, Fallen has the benefit of an established mythos from which Lebbon can draw upon to create realistic color for new readers, but also a familiarity that readers of his previous novels will relish. Like Campbell, Lebbon is truly an author who doesn’t attempt dark fantasy, he achieves it. If you want a taste, pick up FALLEN, now in mass market paperback—I think you’ll be glad you did.
