Rock & Roll Homicide by RJ McDonnell

Description: The leader of a rock & roll band is murdered when his headphones explode during a recording session. His wife, who inherits $5M, is SDPD’s #1 suspect. She hires Jason Duffy, a 27 year-old PI in his first year of private practice, because of his background as a club musician. She suspects the record company, which we learn has a very unhealthy tie to the Russian Mafia.
We see how the case changes Jason’s relationship with his father, a retired police detective. Their whole family dynamic went South the day his mother bought Jason his first guitar. We also see how stress changes the way Jason relates to his girlfriend when he becomes a target as the case unfolds.
