Description: Ever since Grandpa passed away, Mika’s life has sucked. Not only does she miss him terribly, but she’s never seen her dad so miserable, her mom so exhausted, or her brothers so bratty. All she wants is to escape, which means visiting her best friend, Aimee, as much as possible.
One evening as she walks to Aimee’s house, she hears a cat yowl for help and goes to rescue it, an act which will change everything – for the worst. With the cat, named Angel, safe at home, strange things begin to happen. Something is watching the house. Mysterious threats are painted on Mika’s backpack. A dark presence stalks her in the woods.
Then, while Mika is at school, Angel is claimed by her past owner. Mika is broken hearted, but even more, she’s worried for the gentle little cat. Mika and Aimee go to Angel’s house to check she’s okay – and find the poor creature madly trying to scratch her way out of the house. They free Angel and run, but not before Angel’s owner sees them and sends her dog after them!
A narrow escape later, a visit to the vet for Angel, and a promise from Mika’s dad that they won’t give the cat back to her abusive owner, and Mika thinks the problem is solved. But then one of her little brothers goes missing in the night, and there is only one person crazy enough to steal him away.
But even Mika has no idea how crazy Angel’s past owner is. Not yet. Unfortunately, she’s going to find out. Does she have the courage and creativity to save both her brother and Angel? Or will the darkly gifted woman claim them both, and maybe Mika as well?
