Chain of Dogs by Steven Erikson & Ian Cameron Esslemont

Description: Erikson and Esslemont have written some film and television scripts together, of those 'Chain of Dogs' is at first draft stage. It tells the story of the 'Chain of Dogs' from Deadhouse Gates, the second book of The Malazan Book of the Fallen.

The project is now in the stage of private funding and co-production with other countries, having failed (so far) in getting backing/funding from Telefilm Canada and CRTC Canadian-content regulations.

This is all very time consuming, so the actual movie might be a long wait. Biggest problem according to Erikson is: '(...) the challenge for writers is singular - finding a producer who won't go ego-crazy when it comes to creative control, and man, that is a rare thing. It's commonplace to relegate the writers to the lowest rung on the ladder and do everything possible to keep 'em there (...)'

Fans of the books know that it's important for the writers to keep control and as such avoid a bad Hollywood movie!

'(...)if you like the idea of a film version of Chain of Dogs, then talk it up and feed the buzz.' Erikson's advise, which I followed of course :-D
