Michael White is a former science writer for GQ magazine. In a previous incarnation he played guitar and keyboards for The Thompson Twins and was then a science lecturer before becoming a full-time science writer in 1991.
He is the author of a dozen books including the international best-sellers The Science of the X-Files (1996) and Stephen Hawking - A Life in Science (1992). He has also written biographies of Einstein, Darwin, Isaac Asimov and John Lennon, and his most recent is an alternative biography of Isaac Newton that concentrates on his work as an alchemist - Isaac Newton: The Last Sorcerer (1997).
