Jim Butcher is a ten-year student of martial arts, including Ryuku Kempo, Tae Kwon Do, Gojo Shorei Ryu, and a sprinkling of Kung Fu. He is a skilled rider and has worked as a summer camp horse wrangler and performed in front of large audiences in both drill riding and stunt riding exhibitions. He also enjoys fencing, singing, songwriting and live-action gaming. He works as a computer support technician, although he has held a variety of jobs in the past, from fast-food management to door-to-door vacuum selling.

The Dresden Files series has been adapted, by the Sci-Fi channel, into a TV series (January 2007).

Publisher's Lunch reports that books #12 and #13 in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series have been bought by Anne Sowards at Roc for publication in the US.
