He was raised there and in northern Arizona at a Navajo reservation. He earned a B.A. in anthropology from Mississippi State University and worked briefly as an archaeologist. He recieved a Master's in anthropology from the University of Georgia and is closing in on a Ph.D. in the same field. As an anthropologist his interests are in belief systems and mythology.
Between the B.A. and M.A., Greg married Nell Webb and ironed newspapers, writing in his spare time. His first novel, The Waterborn, was published in 1996. Since then he has authored its sequel, The Blackgod and the age of Unreason series - Newton's Cannon, A Calculus of Angels, Empire of Unreason and the not yet named fourth and final book. He also wrote the Babylon 5 psi corps trilogy and a series of Fool Wolf short stories for Dragon magazine. His current projects include a Star Wars novel and a new high fantasy series.
