Howard Phillips Lovecraft resided in Providence for most of his life. He is mostly known for his tales of supernatural fiction that were published at the time in pulp magazines such as Weird Tales, but he mainly made his living as a revisionist and ghostwriter for other aspiring authors. Lovecraft was also a great writer of letters, and was actively involved in amateur journalism. He died on March 15, 1937 in Providence.
