A quote from Bill Myers site:
I wrote the series because, as a committed youth worker in my church, I was amazed at the number of supernatural counterfeits that attempt to seduce our minds. Some of these especially target teens. Just turn on the TV and you’ll see half a dozen shows involving the occult. Or, go to any secular bookstore. Often, you’ll see 70-90% of the youth section devoted to something about the supernatural. In fact, did you know that the Ouija board tied as the most popular board game among teens in the United States? Or, did you know that one out of three young Americans believes in reincarnation? And don’t even get me started on astrology, UFO’s, spirit guides, séances, angels, ghosts, and on and on it goes.
So as you read the Forbidden Doors books, I want you to keep in mind two goals that I tried to achieve as I wrote them:
ONE…
I wanted to hold the reader’s interest with exciting, fast-moving fiction. As the co-creator of “McGee and Me!” and as a film director, I know that page-turning suspense holds anyone’s interest. But that’s just the candy coating to get the medicine down. The real purpose for the series is…
TWO…
To send out a warning about the various counterfeits that are out there - to explain where they come from, what they do, how much is for real, how much is a hoax, and what the dangers are - as well as to provide help to any who are caught up in them or who have friends who are.
